Westbourne Park Primary School

Design – LCS Landscapes
With the school approaching its centenary we were engaged to design a landscape to help honour the schools past people and achievements.
We set about creating a linear garden walkway to symbolise a journey through time. This was achieved with the use of granite ‘timeline’ markers, period plants and artwork provided by a local artist.
Along its length are small passive areas to sit and a central area which can be used as an outdoor classroom. We used a combination of surface treatments including recycled red brick, exposed aggregate concrete and granite banding to complement the schools existing architecture and pay respect to both the historical nature of the project whilst including current design principles.
Construction of the garden was completed in February. It was officially opened on the 26th of February 2014 with a ceremony to honour the people and significant events through the school’s history.
