Munno Para Town Park

Project completion: June 2015

Munno Para Town Park is the main multipurpose park and play space forming part of the Playford Alive residential suburb. The park covers an area of approximately 1.2 hectares, adjoined by roadways and the newly constructed Stretton Centre community building.

The delivery of this $4.5m project was a collaborative effort through Renewal SA, LCS Landscapes, and Aspect Studios.

The major elements of the park include a skate park, water play area, lawns for both active and passive use, contemplative gardens, and play spaces using a variety of high quality play equipment and custom made structures.

The site was completely bare when we started construction in July 2014. Our initial works including the bulk earthworks and the stormwater drainage system had to be carried out during winter, knowing the rain would quickly make the existing heavy soil unworkable for periods of time. Construction continued nonstop for the following 12 months.

Throughout the build, we worked closely with both the client and the superintendent to balance the budget through alternative construction techniques, enabling all the major elements to be included within the original scope.
